StoryFest
Hope in Action
Thursday, April 10, 2025, 5:30pm-7pm
The Muhammad Ali Center
This event, on the second anniversary of the mass shooting in downtown Louisville, is designed to inspire and build hope. Hear our six featured nonprofits share their stories and join these leading organizations in lifting up our community.
“Tell me a fact, and I’ll learn. Tell me a truth, and I’ll believe. But tell me a story, and it will live in my heart forever.” - Ed Sabol
Storytelling is the most powerful way to share our ideas, our hopes, dreams and histories. A clear, compelling story doesn’t just inform -- it inspires, builds trust, prompts action and drives meaningful change.
Yet for many nonprofits, including those in Louisville, honing the art of storytelling may be a skill pushed aside by the busy, day-to-day necessities of survival.
StoryFest is a unique, new event designed to increase the ability of nonprofit leaders to be exceptional storytellers of their missions, fostering deeper community connections and wider support.
Storytelling
StoryFest teaches non-profit leaders narratives by internalizing them rather than memorizing them. The performance is completely free of scripts or notes, creating a uniquely engaging and meaningful experience for audiences. This approach blends intimacy and insight every time.
The training includes workshops by national experts, peer-based coaching, and 1:1 matching with community mentors. Using proven storytelling frameworks and techniques, participants will learn to craft compelling narratives that highlight their mission and impact. Through hands-on exercises and real-time feedback, they’ll gain the skills to engage diverse audiences, inspire action, and amplify their organization’s voice.
